Earning points

Taco Bell’s current rewards page says Hot Tier members earn 10 points for each eligible $1. The rewards FAQ says the calculation uses the eligible subtotal and excludes taxes, fees and discounts. A $12 eligible subtotal therefore points toward 120 points, not 120 points plus tax.

Reward threshold

The program currently issues a reward every 250 points. At 10 points per eligible dollar, that is the equivalent of $25 in eligible spending before considering promotions or Fire Tier. Rewards are selected from the current tier list and can change.

Fire Tier

Earning 2,000 points in a calendar year unlocks Fire Tier. Fire Tier earns 11 points per eligible $1 and has a broader reward list. Reaching 2,000 points at the Hot rate corresponds to about $200 in eligible subtotal, although bonus-point offers can change the path.

How purchases attach to an account

Website and app orders need the member signed in. Kiosk or drive-thru earning uses the account flow or receipt-scanning method described in the official FAQ. A payment card alone does not identify the rewards account.

Redemption decisions

Do not value every reward at the menu’s highest possible price. Choose an item you would actually buy, check the current restaurant price and verify that the reward is valid for the selected item and location.

Expiration and account checks

Points and rewards have program rules and expiration conditions. Open the current rewards account and official terms before saving points for a distant purchase; account-specific balances and offer dates control.

A 250-point worked example

At the Hot Tier rate of 10 points per eligible $1, a $9.50 eligible subtotal earns about 95 points and a $15.50 subtotal earns about 155 points. Together they reach 250 points before bonuses. Tax, delivery fees and excluded discounts should not be added to that calculation because the official FAQ bases points on eligible spending.

How to value a reward

The useful reward value is the selected restaurant price of an item the member would otherwise buy. Redeeming for a $3 item that replaces a planned purchase can be more valuable than choosing a higher-priced item that does not fit the order. Check whether customizations remain paid even when the base item is covered.

Missing-points workflow

Keep the receipt, confirm that the purchase was eligible, verify the account used for the order and check whether the posting window has passed. Use Taco Bell’s official account support for an unresolved balance. This independent site cannot view a rewards account or restore points.

Account and expiration check

Before saving a reward for later, open the account and note the stated expiration date. Program lists, tier benefits and promotional multipliers can change. A current account screen is more useful than an old article when deciding whether to redeem now or wait.
